Course Format
The course is designed to equip faculty development champions at your institutions with best practices for facilitating faculty development sessions. The course is centered around the Mayo Clinic SIX Pack Facilitator Bundle, tailored to the specific needs of your institution. Participants will gain valuable insights into fostering a strong medical educator community through practical, hands-on experience.

Structure
Pre-brief session
Mayo Clinic faculty will meet with the designated co-facilitator from your institution to develop a facilitation plan. The focus of this session is the Mayo Clinic SIX Pack that your institution has chosen, ensuring that it is well integrated into the facilitation strategy for the upcoming session.
Co-facilitation session
A Mayo Clinic faculty member will co-facilitate a faculty development session alongside the institution's faculty development champion. The session will utilize the selected SIX Pack facilitator bundle, providing participants with practical experience in applying key facilitation techniques.
Post-brief session
Following the co-facilitation, Mayo Clinic faculty will engage in a debrief session with the co-facilitator to review the outcomes, discuss areas for improvement, and strategize on how to further enhance future sessions using the SIX Pack materials.
Scheduling and Participation
A Mayo Clinic program manager will reach out to help schedule the three sessions of the Faculty Development Train the Trainer course and provide registration information for the SIX Pack Facilitator Bundle. Your faculty development champion will participante in all three sessions and will co-facilitate a faculty development session alongside a Mayo Clinic expert. To maximize the impact of this session, it is recommended that as many faculty members as possible participate. Due to clinical commitments, it may take up to three months to finalize the scheduling.

Different Mayo Clinic faculty experts will be selected to participate based on the specific topic of the SIX Pack chosen for the session. Each expert is carefully matched to the content to ensure their expertise aligns with the subject matter, providing participants with deep insights and practical knowledge relevant to the chosen focus area.
Heather Billings, PhDSenior Associate Consultant, Director of The Office of Faculty Development and Co-Director of the Academy of Educational ExcellenceDr. Heather Billings oversees faculty development programming, provides consultation, and creates resources and activities to support faculty and health professions educators across the enterprise. Dr. Billings is a faculty member within the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, chairs the Faculty Development Steering Committee and is the Graduate Medical Education section leader for the regional Central Group of Educational Affairs executive committee. Dr. Billings led the creation of the Academy of Educational Excellence and is continuing to build faculty development programs, such as the Fundamentals in Medical Education program. Dr. Billing’s research projects include innovative curriculum designs, faculty development dissemination strategies, mentorship development and multidisciplinary team science models. |
